On September 20, 2025, the Magik Theatre in San Antonio hosted its annual fundraiser, A Night of Magik.
The venue was transformed into a glamorous Hollywood-style premiere, complete with a red carpet entrance, themed décor and photo spot opportunities that welcomed guests to an unforgettable night under the stars.
The lighting design for the event was led by Thaddeus Morris, who also served as the Lighting Supervisor and Programmer. His approach to the lighting design was to merge the elegance of Hollywood with the excitement of modern production, using a variety of MEGA-LITE fixtures throughout the theatre, courtyard and lobby.
Inside the theatre, the setup featured 10 MW1s, 1 Framebot, 4 MS1s, and a MEGA Node. The MW1s were used as front and back light for podiums and stage areas, creating balanced coverage and depth. The Framebot served as a flexible front wash and spotlight, providing precise framing control to highlight key areas without spilling into the audience. The MS1s added texture and energy to the space, while the MEGA Node efficiently managed data distribution for all fixtures.
In the courtyard, guests experienced a vibrant Hollywood ambiance. Two Viceroys illuminated the photo booth area, creating an immersive entrance with their impressive output.
Four EB1s and two Outerbots Wash 340 provided beams and color effects that lit surrounding trees and added movement to the outdoor space. Four Toad Hybrid LED 400 flanked the “Hollywood” sign, projecting powerful beams that reached nearby buildings, while six Teclights BVW150 illuminated the photo area in front of the sign, ensuring guests stayed perfectly lit well into the night. The setup was completed with the support of sixteen Light Trusses, thirty Color Pac 150Ns, and three Total Control Radio DMXs, which offered smooth wireless control across the venue.
The lobby featured Vintage Scoops Q32 and a Tetra Driver 16 for control, combining classic styling with modern performance. The fixtures provided bright, even illumination for the silent auction and transitioned seamlessly into color chases that enhanced the festive atmosphere.
Reflecting on the experience, Thaddeus Morris shared, “Every MEGA-LITE fixture performed exactly as I envisioned. From the power of the Toads to the brightness of the Teclights, each unit played a crucial role in creating the atmosphere we wanted. The flexibility and reliability of the gear made the entire design process simple and seamless.”
MEGA-LITE is proud to have been part of this year’s A Night of Magik, supporting a local theatre that continues to bring creativity and inspiration to young audiences through the power of performance and light.
